Burn Accidents
Severe burns are catastrophic injuries that can require lifelong treatment. The lives of both the victims and their family members are often impacted by high medical costs, years of painful rehabilitation, loss of earnings, pain and suffering and many other complications as a result of fires and burns. If you or someone you know has suffered injuries or losses as the result of a burn injury, you may be entitled to monetary recovery for those losses.
Sometimes, sadly, we are contacted by burn survivors after the Statute of Limitations (time in which to bring a lawsuit) has run. Each state has its own Statute of Limitations. When the injured party is an infant or minor, the statute of limitations is “tolled” or paused and generally does not begin to run until the burn survivor turns 18.
House and apartment fires:
Many house and apartment fires are caused by faulty wiring or other electrical issues. Often there are broken or missing smoke detectors involved. If an electrician did subpar work or an owner/landlord knew (or should have known) about a problem and failed to fix it, they may be liable.
Premises accidents:
We have successfully represented both adults and children scalded by sudden and unreasonably hot water.
Vehicle fires:
Cars and trucks can catch on fire due to accidents or sometimes from mechanical failures. Defective Products can cause severe injuries to consumers. The designer, manufacturer, or retailer of the product may be liable. Defective products can include auto parts, children’s toys, home appliances, heating pads, flammable clothing and beauty products.
Workplace accidents:
Explosions and toxic chemicals on a job site can cause burn injuries. A workplace fire may involve a worker’s compensation claim in addition to a claim or lawsuit against the manufacturer or distributor of the faulty equipment.
